Hotels, bed & breakfast and campsites in Rochefort & Fouras


There are plenty of options for accommodation in the town of Rochefort and nearby Fouras, whether it’s hotels, bed & breakfast or gîtes you’re looking for. In Rochefort, which is a good base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, many of the hotels are in the centre of the town, along its notably straight and spacious streets. (The product of some enlightened town planning in the 17th century…).
You’ll find hotels in the spa area around avenue Camille Pelletan – Hotel Les Remparts and Le Plaisance – and if you come down rue de la République there is Hotel Roca Fortis. More hotels can be found in nearby avenue La Fayette, rue du Dr Peltier and rue Jean Jaures. If it’s riverside accommodation you’re looking for then there is La Corderie Royale hotel next to the River Charente.
Rochefort also has bed and breakfast and chambres d’hôtes to offer, in town centre streets such as rue A. Courbet, rue de la République and avenue des Déportés Fusillés. For camping there is a campsite near the estuary at rue des Pecheurs d’Islande, and a camping area closer to the town centre at avenue de la Fosee aux Mats.

ACCOMMODATION IN FOURAS


On the peninsula of Fouras – which is Rochefort’s beach resort – there are four main hotels. These are all close to the centre of the charming town of Fouras-les-Bains but the Fouras peninsula – described in tourist literature as the ‘almost island’- is not very big, so nowhere is very far from the area’s five beaches.
Fouras' hotels can be found in rue du Général Bruncher, where there are two hotels, avenue de la Gare and rue Eric Tabarly. Fouras also has a number of bed and breakfast and chambres d’hôtes, in the town centre, near beaches and in more rural locations. And as you might expect for a popular tourist area Fouras also has five campsites, some with swimming pools, a holiday village and a mobile home park.
And in Fouras and in Rochefort there is lots of furnished holiday accommodation – often known as meublés de tourisme – to rent as well as more traditional gîtes.
